The Undeniable importance of Interior Design while doing your interiors.

Updated: Jan 1, 2020

Interior design is the art and science of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space.

Designing your home allows you to make each of its spaces your own. A home’s interior design is defined by its details. Of course, the furniture, colour, and layout of every room must be cohesive and logical, but the smaller, often-overlooked facets of design—including the selection of art—are what really make a home unique and vibrant. There is only so much a couch can say about you and your taste, but the paintings or sculptures you choose to display can make highly personal statements about how you perceive yourself and your place in the world. Considering the walls of your residence as mere frames and dividing lines can lead to missed opportunities. While not every wall needs to be a gallery showcase, a piece of art that brings out certain shades and colours can utterly transform rather than simply decorate a room.

Decorating a house is an exercise that carries a lot of importance not only for the occupants but for anyone else who may visit. There are many reasons for creating an interior design project. However, the goal is usually the same – to improve how a space functions and to make it more visually appealing. What’s essential for interior design is being able to communicate your design ideas clearly.

The problem with Interior Design is a lot many people confuse it with Interior Decoration. While the former refers to designing an entire living space from scratch, the latter refers to decorating an existent living space with added furniture and upholstery. Interior Design is indeed a science that is bound by its own elements and principles and yes, it is not as simple as one imagines it to be!
