Index Trade Fairs continues its legacy of holding its annual international interior trade fair sprawling across the grounds of NESCO, Mumbai, bringing together a perfect amalgamation of creative minds and unique design from the fields of Architecture and Interior Design from across the country and beyond! This year it turned 30! If design is what excites you, drop in to have your mind blown.
It is an excellent place if you’re looking for some innovative and classy furniture pieces, art or hardware! The stalls range from local to national to international repute. From the touch of ‘modernism’ in techniques, for example, the use of retractable plugs with switches or types of glass which can change their opacity with just a press of a button, to the touch of the ‘antique’ in some furniture pieces that highlight the theme of "reuse and recycle", you will find a good mix of all. A stall of ‘Green Territory’ with the motto of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle caught our attention with their unique tables, armchairs and side tables all made from ancient or reused things, for example, a table made out of an old ‘charkha’ or a dining table top made of pieces of broken tile to give it an environmental touch.
Another unique brand was the Belgium based ‘Six Inch’ with their Indian office at Delhi. Since its inception in 2003 they have been making furniture using foam as the principal material which is colorfully clad and can be used for both interiors and exteriors. The use of foam gives a lot of scope for experimenting with the forms of the furniture, added with comfort.
Another stall that we loved showcases artificial vertical gardens, a growing trend now, that adds life to your walls. Aqua-scape Biopod tanks are also on display, suitable for fish and other creatures. All these could help you create a cozy nature zone in your home or any commercial space. Stalls of brands like Spacewood, Urban ladder, Adhyaay, the Fuchsia Lane, etc. are a must look at.
The Art Enclave has always been a very refreshing part of the fair. This time too it worked its charm on the visitors. Numerous artists have displayed their work and it is a breathtaking walk through this space.
The next hall comprises of hardware brands. You will find a varied array of handles, locks, latches, security systems, adhesives, drawer locks, cladding materials and different types of glass which all have an enormous selection to choose from. Brands like Pinga, Panamax, Rupal Glass, Excellenza, all are a must look. They are inspiring designs infused with simplicity and great user experience.
This exhibition provides a good platform for buyers and suppliers to interact and learn about the new trends in the market. Coupled with their powerful concurrent events and a rich walk-in of the most renowned dignitaries from the architecture and interior fraternity of India, Index definitely has created a memorable show this year. So, if you are looking for some great ideas do check out the Index Trade Fair till May 6th 2018!
