Ar. Gautam Naik

  • WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE ARCHITECTURE ?

I have been always ispired by creativity since childhood, and have eagerness to learn new things. I hate to be monotonous. Interior & Architecture help you explore every day differently & create art which can be ageless & livable. The very thought of architecture being “Mother of Arts” excites me, as, at heart, I am an passionate poet & artist, also exploring new places, new peoples from different fields of life & I love travelling. So I think the profession I have chosen is right.

  • WHAT IS YOUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY?

Every project of mine should be unique, blended with art & serving its functionality in best possible ways, and I should feel that this is the best, the project should bring the best out of me & the client should be highly contented with the result. I am not confined within any particular style in architecture & want to explore all genres of architecture & interiors design, also all kinds of projects in terms of projects scale & purpose.

  • WHAT IS THE MANTRA THAT YOU'VE RELIED ON IN BALANCING FUNCTION WITH AESTHETICS?

Detailing research of the context and understanding requirements in depth is the most important, also being meticulous in handling client’s budget is very important. Getting every detail agreed on paper from client in terms of aesthetics, requirement, conceptualization and budget is of utmost importance once all this is imbibed in design, perfection is achieved and everything is taken care of.

  • TALK ABOUT THE SKILLS THAT HAVE SERVED YOU BEST IN YOUR CAREER.

A heart to heart honest communication with client, relation building, craftsmanship along with uniqueness in approach towards art & always following the path of honesty & ethics. Also being inquisitive and adaptive to every situation, along with flexibility and a never ending thirst to learn & explore new things, has made me who I am today along with very important skill of hard work and following your passion.

  • WHAT ARE THE THINGS A BUDDING ARCHITECT SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO WHILE HANDLING PROJECTS? WHAT ACCORDING TO YOU ARE THE DO'S AND THE DONT'S IN THIS FIELD?

Attention to detailing, eye for perfection, commitment & patience, makes a good architect and an equally good project – so a budding architect should focus on these qualities.

Architecture is the most wonderful profession, but in our country architects are not treated professionally in many fronts & often exploited, but still it’s very giving. If you put your heart & soul into it, the completed project gives you universe of satisfaction. For us every day is different, creative, challenging and adventurous, for those who want to perceive architecture they will have a world of creating, which will fill up their mind, also in architecture learning never stops and exploring different parts of world to study projects & source material for the client’s and apply them in our Indian context is happening greatly and exchanging of technologies and art is a constant pursuit.

“Architecture breaks boundaries and makes the world one, and that’s the real beauty of it”.
